As turbines age they increasingly become at risk to mechanical and structural failures stemming from a combination of design limitations and real-world operating loads—often reaching up to twice the levels originally anticipated during the design phase.

The bed plate and shaft of Endurance E-Series are particularly prone to fatigue related failures. Other turbine types such as Vestas, WTN and Endurance X-Series can suffer from gearbox related issues. With such high value components, early intervention is key to reducing repair costs.

Equipped with a suite of tri-axial vibration, proximity and oil contamination particulate measurement sensors, the CMS enables 24/7 monitoring via a newly developed, state-of-the-art web platform. This system is backed by over 20 years of industry expertise from Anemos-Analytics, a leader in wind turbine diagnostics and performance analysis.

For Endurance E-Series turbines the package can also be combined with an annual non-destructive test (NDT) to regularly check your turbines structural integrity. By having an up-to date NDT in place, you can also reduce downtime should major works be required as this is a necessity before some works can proceed.

How does it work?

Our system includes 7 sensors – 1 proximity sensor to monitor hub slip and 6 tri-axial vibration sensors placed on key components like bearings, gearbox, and bedframe. These sensors track critical vibration data to detect developing issues in their infancy. For Vestas, WTN and Endurance X-Series turbines the system also includes an improved oil filtration system and an advanced oil analysis sensor to monitor ferrous and non ferrous particulate levels providing valuable insight into gearbox health.

Integrated with SCADA system Windsync, the system also uses operating data such as power output and wind speed to provide a complete view of turbine health.
